Dundalk resident Larry V. Fila Sr. died April 27 at his home on Goodman Avenue from complications of cancer and pneumonia. He was 73. Family and friends knew him as “Beaver.”
{reg}A living history enthusisast, he belonged to American Mountain Man and the Patuxents.
Born in Williamsport, Pa., the son of the late Walter and Mary Fila served in the U.S. Navy, was owner of the Maryland Barber School for over 30 years and worked at Lever Brothers for 39 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved reading, hunting, fishing, trapping, farming and canoeing. He was a member of the Chesapeake Wooden Boat Building School and volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 234 in his retirement.
“He loved his faithful dog Agatha,” a family member said.
Janine Fila, his wife of 27 years, sons James and Larry Jr., daughters Dene’ Rachael and Abigail, sister Terry Fila and six grandchildren survive him.
Services were held at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Aberdeen.
