Anna Blanche Payne

    Cypress Avenue resident Anna Blanche Payne died May 28 at her home of 66 years. She was 90.
    {reg}“Her family was the center of her life,” a loved one eulogized. “She made her house a home and welcomed all. She always had  a good sense of humor.”
    Born in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Charles and Ivy Nehouse attended Damascus elementary and high schools. She studied nursing and worked at Crown Cork & Seal for several years.
    She married Ellwood Clifford Payne, who survives her, in 1947 and became a homemaker.  She converted to Catholicism and attended Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, where she was active in the sodality until recently.
    She enjoyed cooking, sewing and playing board games.
    In addition to her husband, she leaves behind children Bernadette Aley, Juanita Kissell, James Payne, Kathleen Payne and Carol Skadin, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    Daughter Cheryl Denise Payne and siblings Edward Nehouse, Mildred Cole and Alice Thompson preceded her in death.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church.
