Longtime Dundalk Avenue resident John J. Baker died Aug. 7 from lung cancer at his home with family by his side. He was 73 and had lived on Elton Avenue for 46 years.
{reg} Born in Baltimore to the late Harry and Goldie Baker, he joined the Air National Guard while in high school and earned his general education diploma after enlisting in the U.S. Air Force.
He worked for several years in the concrete industry. He later worked as a shuttle driver first for Broadway Services and then with Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
In his free time, he was a shooter, collector and reloader, and he hunted a variety of game. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and especially liked taking long rides into the country.
Survivors include Peggy J. Baker, his wife of 52 years, daughters Bonnie Baker-Sanders, Barbara Myers and Brenda Ennd, son Matt Baker and five grandchildren.
Brother Harry Baker predeceased him.
Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home on Aug. 11.{/reg}
