Dundalk resident and World War II veteran George John Whittington died Aug. 24 at FutureCare Nursing Home at age 91. He lived on Bayard Avenue.
{reg}Born in Baltimore, he served as a gunner’s mate in the U.S. Navy during the war. He earned a general education diploma in 1960 and worked at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard.
He belonged to Patapsco Masonic Lodge 183 and was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where services were held.
Daughter Brenda Lee Whittington and sisters Sis, Cecilia and Shirley survive him.
Parents Ella and Martin Whittington, wife Edith Gazalla Wingar Whittington and siblings Harry, John, Bertha, Marie and Cass preceded him in death.
