Visitation for Bob Ford will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, Del., with services Friday, Oct. 31, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
    {reg}Known as “Rip” to family and friends, the former Dundalk resident and World War II veteran died Oct. 27 at his home in Newark at the age of 88.
    He was born in Baltimore to the late William H. and Reba K. Spedden Ford. He graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1943, joined the U.S. Navy and served on a minesweeper in the Pacific during the war. He was discharged in 1946.
    He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Baltimore in 1950. After his retirement from a 35-year career with Exxon Corporation, he operated his own consulting firm.
    In addition to Dundalk and Newark, he lived in Joppa, Md. and Willmington, Del.
    Survivors include sons Bob Ford Jr. and Mark Ford, daughters Sue Iverson and Jill Ford, sisters Dot Barton and Libby Dircks, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    Mitzi, his wife of 46 years, preceded him in death, along with siblings Bill Ford and Helen Mongan.
