Viewing for Walter “Roger” Smertycha will be held Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24 and 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on both days at Kaczorowski Funeral Home, 1201 Dundalk Ave., with services Monday, Jan. 26, at 11:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
{reg}He died Jan. 19 at his home on Bethlehem Avenue at the age of 64.
A native of Germany, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1952 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the VFW, as well as an avid collector of U.S. Marine Corps memorabilia.
He retired from Baltimore Gas & Electric after 25 years of service and he loved the Ravens.
Nancy Smertycha, his wife of 26 years, survives him, along with daughters Brittany M. Smertycha, Lisa A. Kolb and Kimberly B. Barbargallo, brother Michael Smertycha and two grandsons.{/reg}
