Longtime Dundalk resident and World War II veteran Alvin Joseph Snyder died March 8 at Stella Maris from an infection. He was 86.
{reg}Born in Baltimore to the late Charles and Irma Snyder, he graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.
He and his wife, Laila “Leigh” Snyder, who survives him, moved to their home on Brookview Avenue 65 years ago.
He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 43 years.
He belonged to St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, was a member of the American Legion and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America.
Children Thomas, Joyce and Steven, brother Donald, sisters Carol, Nancy and Susan, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive him.
Son John and brother Robert preceded him in death.
Interment at Swartz Cemetery followed services at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.
