Lawrence A. “Larry” Buettner died of pneumonia at his Eastbrook Avenue home on July 11. He was 97.
{reg}The son of the late Lillian and Frederick H. Buettner, he was born in Highlandtown and attended St. Elizabeth’s School. He moved to Eastwood more than 50 years ago.
He worked as a machinist in the Bethlehem Steel shipyard on Key Highway and retired in 1977.
He atttended Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and neighbors as well as fishing, crabbing and gardening. He rarely missed an Orioles game on TV.
Survivors include sister Lillian Barrett, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mary E. Buettner, wife of 67 years, predeceased him, along with daughter Patricia Messaris and six brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery on July 13.
