A memorial service for Mary L. Farlow will be held Friday, Jan. 4, at 6 p.m. at Middle River Assembly of God, 9620 Bird River Road, in Middle River.
    {reg}The former Dundalk resident died Dec. 15 at Rest Haven-York in York, Pa., where she lived. She was 67.
    The daughter of the late Gloria A. and Robert Jones Sr. was born in Baltimore.
    Survivors include daughters Sandra M. Seifert and Donna M. Wawrzyniak, sisters Janice Hammond and Ann Reddish and brother Robert Jones Jr.

Longtime Cleveland Avenue resident Gertrud Thoms died Dec. 10 at Frankford Nursing Home. She was 86.
    {reg}Born in Koblenz, Germany, to the late Maria Theresa and George Carle, she had lived in Dundalk since 1967, when she immigrated to the U.S.
    A homemaker, she loved crocheting and other crafts and enjoyed tending her flower garden.
    Sons Frank and Marvin Thoms, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive her.
    Husband Gerald M. Thoms preceded her in death.
    Services were at Bradley-Ashton Funeral Home. She will be buried next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.{/reg}

Former Charlesmont resident William A. Hedge died Dec. 9 in Viera, Fla., of a heart attack. He was 72 and lived in Melbourne, Fla.
    {reg}Born in Salisbury, the son of the late Helen and Archie Hedge worked as a truck driver affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
    Following his retirement, he traveled the country in an recreational vehicle with his wife, Joyce Rossmark-Hedge, who survives him. He enjoyed playing guitar.
    Children William, Mary, Tina and Patricia, stepchildren Michael, Shelly and George, brother John Hedge, sister Mary Bishop and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with burial at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.

Longtime Mornington Road resident Helena A. “Sis” Carnes died Dec. 19 of natural causes at Little Sisters of the Poor in Catonsville, where she had lived for 14 years. She was 90.
   {reg} A former member of St. Rita Roman Catholic Church, she was a devoted Catholic who attended Mass everyday. 
    She loved doing crossword puzzels and reading, especially newspapers.
    Husband Arthur H. Carnes preceded her in death.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Little Sisters of the Poor, with interment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.

Milton J. Knight Jr.

    Lifelong Dundalk Avenue resident and mortician Milton J. Knight Jr. died Dec. 20 at Gilchrist Hospice Care from cancer. He was 83.
    {reg}Born on Dundalk Avenue, he graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1946. He attended Charlotte Hall Military Academy until 1947, went to the University of Maryland for two years,  and graduated from the American Academy of Embalming and Mortuary Research in New York City.
    He served in the U.S. Army for two years.
    His career as mortician spanned more than 50 years and began at Tickner Funeral Home. He also worked for John J. Duda and the Duda-Ruck Funeral Home in Dundalk. He retired in 2002 from the Leonard J. Ruck Funeral Home, where he was funeral director.
    Elizabeth M. “Betty” Knight, his wife of 59 years, survives him. The couple were avid Colts, Ravens and Orioles fans and also loved stock car racing.  
    Son Milton J. “Jim” Knight III, daughters Susan Knight Santorella and Patricia E. Knight, two brothers, one sister, three grandchildren and two great-grandsons also survive him.
    Son William M. Knight preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Charles L. Taylor

    Old Dundalk resident, clergyman and writer Charles L. Taylor died from complications of a stroke at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center on Dec. 20. He was 84 and had lived in the community since 1988.
    {reg}After graduating from the Episcopal Theological School, he served as an ordained minister in the Episcopal Church for 35 years. He later pastored at  Holy Cross Polish National Church in Fells Point for many years, where private services for Rev. Taylor were held.
    Born and raised in Ohio, he was one of the first Boy Scouts in the Central Ohio Area Council to earn a merit badge in Indian studies in 1942. In 2009, he published Nothing Lives Forever: The Sand Creek Story, a fictionalized account of the 1864 Sand Creek massacre of Cheyenne Indians in Colorado.  
    For several years beginning in the late 1990s, he worked as a free-lance columnist and photographer for The Dundalk Eagle.
    He was a member of the Masons for 60 years.
    Joan Taylor, his wife of 32 years, sons Frank, Michael and Andrew Taylor and numerous grandchidren and great-grandchildren survive him.

    Former Dundalk resident James G. Roberts died Dec. 15 in Harford County, where he had lived since 2004. He was 63.
    {reg}Survivors include wife Priscilla A. Roberts, children Ty and Jayme Roberts, brother Thomas D. Roberts and one granddaughter.
    Brother Cyrus J. Roberts preceded him in death.

Marguerite “Midge” Sponaugle

    Former Dunran Road resident Marguerite “Midge” Sponaugle died Dec. 29 of a heart attack at Quail Assisted Living. She was 80.
    {reg}Born and raised in Cumberland, she graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1950.
    She worked at Western Electric until its closing and then at Verizon, for a total of 22 years.
    She loved playing slots in Atlantic City and Charlestown horse racing.
    Survivors include David L., Bob and Sonny Sponaugle, daughter Carol Edmond, brothers Don and Pug Benson, sisters Betty Beckman and Jean Smith, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Husband Leroy E. Sponaugle predeceased her.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.{/reg}

    Former longtime Dun-dalk resident Mary E. Reckenberger died Dec. 29 at Lutheran Home in Pennsylvania. She was 71.
    {reg}A Dundalk High School graduate, she worked as a head cashier at several stores. She enjoyed jewelry making.
    Sons Joseph and Donald Goetz, daughter LeeAnn Goetz Mancuso, brother Robert Hissom, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive her.
    Sister Ida Marie Goetz predeceased her.
    Interment at Meadowridge Memorial Park followed services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.{/reg}

    A memorial service for Margaret I. Peters will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at Lodge Forest United Methodist Church, 2715 Lodge Forest Drive.
    The longtime Edgemere resident died Dec. 27 of cancer at Gilchrist Hospice Care. She was 81 and had lived on Pennwood Terrace for 56 years.
    {reg}Born in Brownsville, Pa., to the late Stephen Feshanko and Helen Draga, she graduated from the Eldorado School of Cosmetology and later earned a general education diploma at Dundalk Community College [now CCBC Dundalk].
    She worked as a beautician at Angelique’s Beauty Salon for 15 years and then as a receptionist at the J.C. Penney beauty salon at Eastpoint Mall   for five years.
    A member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Edgemere, she enjoyed sailing and metal detecting.
    Harold Peters, her husband of 65 years, son David Peters, two grandchildren and two great-granddaughters survive her.
    Brother Alex Feshanko and sisters Mary Flenniken, Helen Sashura, Ann Thompson, Olga Bennett and Elizabeth Feshanko preceded her in death.

Charles M. Creamer Sr.

    Brentwood resident and World War II veteran Charles M. Creamer Sr. died Dec. 28 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 88.
    {reg}Born in Middle River, the son of the late Alan W. Creamer and Elva Mae Brannann, he enjoyed crabbing, fishing, hunting, cars and repairing antique clocks.
    After driving a bus as a young man, he served for three years during World War II in the 796th Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion of the 10th Armored Division of the U.S. Third Army.
    He made a living as a master mechanic, first at Exxon for 25 years and then at Marex Heating Oil for 10 years.
    Wife Bertha Creamer, son Charles H. Creamer Jr., daughter Darlene Freda Andrzejewski and four grandchildren survive him.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.{/reg}

Theresa R. Conway

    Visitation for Theresa R. Conway will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 9 and 10, at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Avenue, from 3 to 5 p.m and 7 to 9 p.m. on both days. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 1727 Lynch Road, followed by interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
    The former Wise Avenue resident and dance teacher died Jan. 5 from complications of pneumonia. She was 86 and lived in Joppatowne.
    {reg}Known as “Miss Tessie” to her students, she first taught Polish dancing at the Polish National Alliance in Baltimore. She then opened Tessie’s Dance Studio on Eastern Avenue, where she taught tap, ballet, pointe, jazz and ballroom dancing. She later taught at a studio in her Wise Avenue home, which became home of the Tessetts, before moving to a larger studio on Wise Avenue. After moving to Harford County, she taught dancing for several more years at the Joppa-Magnolia Recreation Center.
    “Miss Tessie was known for her large smile and even bigger heart,” a loved one recalled. “Many of her former students she loved as her own children and grandchildren.”
    Timothy Conway, her husband of 40 years, daughter Darlene Chance, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive her.
    Chester Anyszek Sr., her first husband, and son Chester Anyszek preceded her in death.{/reg}

    Longtime Dundalk resident Donna R. Catherman died Dec. 29 at Gilchrist Hospice Care. She was 68 and had lived in the community for 18 years.
    {reg}Born in Virginia, she was the last of seven sisters.
    She enjoyed flower gardening and cooking.
    Survivors include Harry Catherman, her husband of 14 years, sons Chris and Danny Glas, daughters Theasa and Becky Glas, stepdaughters Kim and Karen and one grandson.

    Longtime Dundalk resident Frank J. Borowicz died Jan. 1 at Franklin Square Hospital of natural causes. He was 93.
    {reg}A native of Baltimore, he had lived in Logan Village for 62 years and was a member of St. Rita Roman Catholic Church.
    He retired from the Sparrows Point shipyard after 45 years of service as a welder.
    Survivors include daughters Joan L. Falanga and Patti Noe and three grandchildren.
    He was the last of seven siblings.

    {reg}The Harford Technical High School student was born in Baltimore. He enjoyed playing lacrosse and soccer, riding dirt bikes, snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX riding and drawing.
    Survivors include father Troy D. Remines, mother Tina Marie Kedzierski Campbell, stepfather Mark Campbell, brother Kendall Kedzierski and sisters Gabrielle Remines and Raegan Campbell.
    Visitation was held at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon on Jan. 6, with graveside services the following day at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

    Dundalk resident Sean T. McGinnis died Dec. 31 at his home due to cardiac complications. He was 46.
    {reg}“He was a great father and wonderful husband,” a loved one said.  
    The son of the late John T. and Viola McGinnis was  born and raised on Fait Avenue in Highlandtown. He graduated from Archbishop Curley High School in 1984.
    He worked at Crown Petroleum, Johns Hopkins University in the accounting department, Dunbar Armored and Edy’s Ice Cream. He last worked as a FedEx driver.
    His wife, Carla McGinnis, and children Tyler and Kayla McGinnis survive him.
    Services were held at Kaczorowski Funeral Home.

Charles H. Hall Sr.

Edgemere resident Charles H. Hall Sr. died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on Dec. 30 with family at his side at his daughter’s home. He was 79.
    {reg}One of nine children, he was born in Baltimore to the late George R. and Bessie E. Hall.
    He worked at Canton Railroad for 21 years before owning and operating Allied Industrial Maintenance until his retirement.
    He loved fishing, boating and spending time with his children, John Walter, Charles H. Hall Jr., David W. Hall Sr., Christina A. Goetzinger, Donna L. Langley and Brenda C. Schultz, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-granchildren.
    Sister Helen Crouse also survives him.
    Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery followed services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.

Former Liberty Parkway resident Vaughn P. Gardner died Jan. 4 at his home in Fork. He was 81.
    {reg}He served in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne division from 1948 to 1952.
    An avid woodsman, “he loved to hunt and was very knowledgeable about animals,” a loved one recalled.
    He attended St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Bradshaw.
    Joanne Gardner, his wife of 57 years, children Timothy F. Gardner, Mary E. Rogers and David V. Gardner, siblings Margaret L. Bands and Kenneth R. Gardner Sr, 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him.
    He was born in Bedford, Pa. to the late Charles and Olive Gardner. Son Robert P. Gardner and siblings Donald C. Gardner, D. Patrick Gardner, Gary F. Gardner and Eve J. McGehee also predeceased him.
    Interment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery followed a Mass of Christian burial at St. Stephen Catholic Church.
