A viewing for Sally T. McClelland will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.,  Sunday, March 31, and Monday, April 1, at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave., with services Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
    {reg}The longtime Dundalk resident and veteran teacher died March 24 at her home of natural causes. She was 88 and lived on Robinwood Road.
    Born in Monessen, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Sally Tanttari was raised on Friendship Circle. As a teenager during World War II, she worked for the Finnish Relief Committee.
    She graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1941 and from Towson State Teachers’ College([now Towson University) in 1945.
    She first taught at Essex Elementary School beginning in 1945 and later at Middlesex Elementary School. She served as principal at Hillendale Elementary School (now Halstead Academy) from 1962 to 1979.
    She was an avid reader and a founding member of the Halethorpe Community Church.
    Children Gary McClelland and Sandra Pfarr and three grandchildren survive her.
    Along with her parents, husband John A. “Otts” McClelland and brother Ulias “Nick” Tanttari preceded her in death.{/reg}

A memorial service for Esther F. Barr will be held Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dundalk, 100 St. Helena Ave.
    {reg}The longtime Dundalk resident died Feb. 28 at the age of 91.
    She belonged to First Baptist Church of Dundalk for more than 60 years and devoted many years to the church’s Christian education program.
    “The annual 4th of July parade was a must see for her,” recalled a loved one. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and caring for her family.
    Son Robert T. Barr Jr., daughter Peggy Jo Barr, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive her.
    Husband Robert T. Barr Sr. and sons John T. and William D. Barr preceded her in death.{/reg}

Billy Roy Baker

A memorial service will be held for Billy Roy Baker, Friday, March 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kaczorowski Funeral Home, 1201 Dundalk Ave.
    {reg}The Ormand Road resident died on March 24 at the age of 81.
    Born in Doddridge County, W.Va., to the late Harley and Elizabeth Baker, he retired from the Baltimore County Police Department as a lieutenant.
    He loved his English bull dog, Kojak.
    Survivors include Donna Baker, his wife of 61 years, children Michael Baker Sr. and Pamela Frisby, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    A private interment is planned.{/reg}

Bertha May Cavanaugh

    Longtime Dundalk resident Bertha May Cavanaugh died March 13 at  the Maryland Masonic Homes, where she had lived for several years. She was 94.
    {reg}She was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir and assisted with church dinners.
    She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to cook, bake and sew. She was an accomplished quiltmaker and made a quilt for every member of her family.
    Children Arthur Gary Cavanaugh, Beverly Hook, Wayne Cavanaugh and Bonnie Pechulis, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive her.
    Husband Arthur James preceded her in death. She was the last of 12 siblings.
    Services were at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, with interment at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens.{/reg}

Dorothy Mae Conley

    Former longtime Edgemere resident Dorothy Mae Conley died March 28 in Royal Oak, Mich. She was 78 and lived in Sterling Heights.
    {reg}Born in Albermarle County, Va., she was raised in Edgemere and graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1953.
    She retired from Bethlehem Steel and then worked for Seagram’s. After moving to Catonsville, she became a caretaker and worked at a number of nursing homes in Maryland and Michigan.
    She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
    “She was our hero,” a family member said.
    Survivors include daughter Dixie Cullison, sisters Janice Argenbright, Lillian Farrah, Shelby Burnett, Alice Swink, Carroll Sandridge and Linda Davis, several half-brothers and sisters, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    Mother Hattie Brooks, father James Sandridge and stepfather Russell Brooks, former husband Jack Conley and son Toby Conley preceded her in death.
    Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery followed services at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.{/reg}

    A viewing for Dorothy M. Wierclorkowski will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, with a Mass of Christian burial Thursday, April 4, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 6736 Youngstown Ave.
    The Dundalk resident of 50 years died April 1 of natural causes at Lorien Mays Chapel Nursing Home in Timonium.
    {reg}Born in Baltimore to the late Julia and Samuel Danna, she graduated from high school, became a homemaker, raised three children and was a longtime parishoner at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
    Sons Steven and Tom Wieclorkowski, daughter Linda Schoff, brothers Pete and Sal Danna, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive her.  
    Emil Wieclorkowski, her husband of 33 years, and sister Florence Sierakowski preceded her in death.{/reg}

    Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Edward Beard on Saturday, April 6, from noon to 2 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Ave. The service begins at 1 p.m.
    The former Dundalk resident died March 23 at his home in Warren, Ohio. He was 43.
    {reg}Born in Baltimore and raised in Dundalk, he graduated from Dundalk High School in 1987 and worked at General Motors for 18 years.

Bill Duane Hopkins

    Edgemere resident Bill Duane Hopkins died suddenly on March 14 at his home on Wells Avenue. He was 53.
    {reg}The 1977 graduate of Dundalk High School was born in Baltimore and worked for 35 years as a maintenance supervisor for the Maryland Transportation Authority at the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
    He loved nature and had a passion for animals. He enjoyed crabbing and fishing. He was a Ravens and Orioles fan and played sports in his younger years.
    Theresa Hopkins, his wife of 18 years, children Adam and Christi Malinski, siblings Hank and Robin Hopkins and one grandson survive him.
    Parents Henry and Lorene Hopkins preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.{/reg}

Merl A. Adams

    Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Merl A. Adams on Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at the gazebo at North Point State Park in Edgemere.
    The former Bay Front Road resident and World War II veteran died Feb. 7 in Leesburg, Fla., of congestive heart failure. He was 87.
    {reg}He graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1943, served in the U.S. Navy during the war and retired from Bethlehem Steel.
    He leaves behind his second wife, Margaret Burgess, to whom he was married for 17 years, children Ronald Barnes, Sandra Doyle and Cheryl Adams, five grandchildren and three great-grandchilden, stepchildren Mark Burgess, Vic Burgess and Pam Wiygul, five step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
    Erline Adams, his first wife, preceded him in death.  
    “Merl leaves behind a legacy of hopefulness and patience, characterized by his love of gardening and fishing,” a loved one said in eulogy.{/reg}

    Graveside services for Emma M. Hager will be held Thursday, April 4, at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, 7401 German Hill Road.
    The former Dundalk resident died March 30 at her home in Waynesboro, Pa. She was 91.
    {reg}Loved ones remembered her as a devoted mother and grandmother.
    Born in Baltimore to Elizabeth and August J. Loeblein, she lived on Bayside Drive for 42 years. She was a foster parent and taught ceramics for 12 years prior moving to Pennsylvania in 1989.
    Sons Charles A. and Jerry R. Hager, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons survive her.
    Charles F. Hager, her husband of 70 years, and sister Marion C. Peffer preceded her in death.{/reg}

Ardith D. Heffler

    Longtime Dundalk resident Ardith D. Heffler died March 12 at Stella Maris due to complications from a stroke. She was 86 and had lived on Berkshire Road for 60 years.
    {reg}Born in Fairmont, W.Va., she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” at Martin Aircraft during World War II.
    The homemaker and mother of five was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church.
    She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading the Bible and taking care of her family.
    Sons Robert L., Joseph Jr, Ronald L., and Jeffrey D. Heffler, daughter Debra Dunphy, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson survive her.
    Husband Joseph Heffler preceded her in death. She was the last survivor of eight siblings.
    Burial at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery followed services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.

    James A. Tezzano of Dundalk died March 26 at the age of 63.
    {reg}He owned and operated Bay Marine Service for 20 years.
    The son of the late Anthony and Josephine Tezzano was born in Highlandtown, graduated from Patapsco High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
    He enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing.
    Suvivors include wife E. Joyce Tezzano, children James Tezzano Jr., Beth Tezzano and Richard Holliday, sisters Joann Smialkowski and Donna Bowling and three grandchildren.
    Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery followed a Catholic prayer service at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.{/reg}

James A. Baglioni

    Former Dundalk resident James A. Baglioni died March 22 in Elgin, Texas, where he lived. Family and friends knew him as Jamie. He was 57.
    {reg}The son of the late Anthony and Valeda Baglioni grew up on Waymouth Way and graduated from Dundalk High School in 1974.
    He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Saratoga.
    After his discharge, he moved to Austin and worked for a printer and typesetter. He later became self-employed as owner of Classic Printing and Graphic Design.
    Family members recall his love of the Chesapeake Bay and steamed crabs. He loved the outdoors and was an avid motorcyclist.
    Survivors include brother Anthony Baglioni, sisters Patricia Tisher, Linda Randall and Janet Barnes and longtime partner Cindy Savage.
    A memorial service is pending. {/reg}

    {reg}The lifelong Dundalk resident died April 5 in Baltimore of cancer at the age of 63.
    The son of the late George and Nancy Auffarth was born in Baltimore, graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1968 and served in the U.S. Navy.
    He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, playing cards with his brothers, visiting Ocean City, riding motorcycles and watching the Orioles and Ravens.
    Belle Auffarth, his wife of 43 years, survives him, along with daughter Catrina Narivanchik, brothers Joseph, Frederick and Geoffery Auffarth and two grandchildren.{/reg}

    Longtime Dundalk resident Theodore R. Sufczynski Sr. died of natural causes March 28 in North Point Village, his home of 51 years. He was 73. 
    {reg}Born in Baltimore, the son of the late Melchior and Caroline Sufczynski served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962 and worked at BGE for 32 years.
    Nadine Y. Sufczynski, his wife of 51 years, son Theodore R. Sufczynski Jr., daughters Yvonne Payne, Babette Bosley and Michelle Sullivan and eight grandchildren survive him.
    Brother Stanley Sufczynski Sr. preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.

Longtime Gray Manor resident James J. Sauers Sr. died March 2 at Stella Maris of cancer. He was 86 and had lived on Southbrook Road for 59 years.
    {reg}He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years and was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
    He worked as a litho-grapher at Barton-Cotton Company.
    He loved traveling, reading and doing word puzzles.
    He was a longtime par-ishioner of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated.
    Laverda Sauers, his wife of 63 years, children James J. Sauers Jr. and Donna Davis, sister Mary Roberts, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive him.
    Mother Rose Thiebus and stepfather Joe Thiebus preceded him in death.
    Interment was at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.{/reg}

    {reg}He retired as a warehouse laborman and lived on Oldham Street in Greektown.

Vincent C. Rice of Edgemere died March 24 of leukemia at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was 54.
    {reg}Born in Baltimore, the son of the late Paul Henry and Arlene Rice graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1976.
    He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for 36 years.
    He enjoyed riding motorcycles and hunting. Family and friends will remember him most as an avid Ravens fan.
    Debbie Rice, his wife of 26 years, children Vincent Cory and Laci Rice and sister Dorothy Gephardt survive him.
    Along with his parents, siblings Paul Wayne Rice and Sandra Cusic preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.

Frederick E. Marcuson Jr.

Sparrows Point native Frederick E. Marcuson Jr. died March 19 at the age of 83.
    {reg}The son of the late Ethel and Frederick Marcuson Sr. was born and raised in the community and graduated from Sparrows Point High School.
    He began a career with Western Electric that spanned 39 years in 1945 when he was 16.    
    He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Leyte during the Korean War. After leaving active duty in 1952, he served for two more years in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
    He resumed employment with Western Electric in 1952 and retired as supervisor in 1984.
    In his retirement, he was president of the Telephone Pioneers.
    He was also active in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows North Point #4, serving on the Grand Lodge staff of the State of Maryland and as Grand Master from 1997 to 1998. 
    He enjoyed sailing, traveling and doing word puzzles.
    Jean B. Marcuson, his wife of 19 years, son Frederick E. Marcuson III and daughter Ruth Ann Browers survive him.
    Interment with military honors at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery followed services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.{/reg}

Wilmer S. Matthews

    A gathering to celebrate the life of Wilmer S. Matthews will take place Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at his childhood home, 7410 School Ave.
    {reg}Known as Bud to family and friends, the Dundalk resident died March 17 at his home. He was 77.
    He was a three-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and served for 25 years with the Baltimore City Police Department.
    He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to the Eastern Shore. “Bud was loved and admired by many and will be greatly missed,” a family member stated.
    Survivors include wife Mary L. Matthews, sons Richard and Robert, daughter Kim and seven grandchildren.{/reg}
