Longtime Ormand Road resident Loretta Freeman died Nov. 30 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She was 60.
    {reg}Born in North Carolina, she was an ordained minister at New Life Sanctuary in Essex, where services were held.
    Husband Sam Freeman, daughter Juanita Chavis, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive her.{/reg}

Dundalk resident Renard C. Kells died Nov. 28 at his home on Admiral Boulevard after a short illness. He was 90.
    {reg}He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945  and worked at Bethlehem Steel, where he retired.
    He leaves behind daughters Virginia Gerber, Linda Blankey, Diane Evanusa and Kim Brown, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Wife Florence M. Kells preceded him in death.{/reg}

Crystal Mae Huffman

    Gray Manor resident Crystal Mae Huffman died Nov. 20 at the age of 77. She had lived on Parkwood Road for 44 years.
    {reg}She was born and raised in Talcott, W.Va., where she met her future husband, Ronald Huffman. The couple were married for 56 years. He survives her.
    Son Michael Huffman, daughter Donna Huffman and two grandchildren also survive her.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home. She was buried in Talcott.{/reg}

A memorial service for Clara Ridgell Overton will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at Patapsco United Methodist Church, 7800 Wise Ave., where she was a longtime member. A luncheon will follow. 
    {reg}The Dundalk resident of 57 years died Dec. 8 at the age of 80.
    She was born in Orchard Beach in Anne Arundel County. A homemaker and mother of two, she earned her general education diploma later in life.
    Husband John Overton, son Earl Ridgell Jr., daughter Anna Williams, sister Kathleen and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive her.
    Former husband Earl Ridgell Sr. and brother Herman preceded her in death.
    Her body was donated to the Baltimore State Board of Anatomy at her request. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patapsco United Methodist Church, 7800 Wise Ave., Dundalk, MD 21222.{/reg}

Leonard Scott Zembas

Longtime Dundalk resident Leonard Scott Zembas died Nov. 12 at the age of 57 after a long illness.
   {reg} A 1974 graduate of Patapsco High School, he played varsity baseball and ran track and field. He worked at the General Motors plant and last worked as a route salesman for Lord Baltimore Laundry for 20 years. 
    Survivors include wife Karen L. Zembas, daughter Sherri L. Zembas, parents Leonard R and Nancy J. Zembas, sister Kimberly Zembas Starz and brother Michael P. Zembas.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.{/reg}

Edgemere resident Connie May Mongan died Dec. 4 at her home on Carolyne Avenue, where she had lived her entire life. She was 61.
    {reg}The mentally disabled woman loved people. “She probably knew half the people in Edgemere and Dundalk,” a family member said. “She loved attending Minnick’s annual toy Christmas party.”
    She also enjoyed the beach, family gatherings and the Ravens. “She was a big fan and watched every game.”
    Siblings Bob, John, Garry, Pat and Libby survive her.
    Parents Guy and Helen Mongan and brothers Jim and Bill preceded her in death.
    Services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home were followed by interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Albert James Hovis on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave. in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
    {reg}The Dundalk native died Dec. 19 at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes at the age of 73. He lived in Rehoboth Beach. Family and friends knew him as “Butch.”
    Born to the late Albert Tittiger and Amelia Nelson, he graduated from Dundalk High School and earned a master’s degree in social work from Catholic University of America in 1992. He also spent time in Rome, Italy, pursuing religious studies.
    He worked as a mental health counselor in Delaware. 
    “He was committed to God and enjoyed helping others,” a loved one recalled. “He was well-known as a kind and caring man.”  An avid reader, he would often provide care for stray cats.
    Survivors include sister Susan Tittiger and brother Edward Tittiger.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947, or to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice.{/reg}

Kernal David Helton

Former Dundalk resident Kernal David Helton died Dec. 13 at Stella Maris Hospice Care at the age of 79. He lived in Cockeysville.
    {reg}Born to the late Kernal and Elizabeth Helton in Harlan, Ky., he was raised on Louth Road in Dundalk. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1952 to 1957.
    He worked as a welder at Bethlehem Steel in blast furnace L, retiring after 33 years of service.
    In his spare time, he played cards at Atomic Club, where he was a longtime member. He also enjoyed football, watching Westerns, deer hunting in Frostburg and feeding his pet squirrel, Bob.
    Survivors include wife Ruth Helton, stepdaughters Amanda and Rose, former wife Mary Deisroth, son David M. Helton, daughter Cindy Smith-Helton, siblings Sybil Kelly, Vivian Wolfe and Robert Helton and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Graveside services  were held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.{/reg}

    Dundalk native Sandra Lee Rabuck Cromwell died Dec. 13 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center of an aneurism. She was 62.
    {reg}She graduated from Patapsco High School in 1969, worked at PPG until 2000 and then at Sun Products. 
    Parents Charles Rabuck and Lorraine Rabuck survive her, along with children Chad and Kelli Cromwell, brothers Larry, Jack and Jimmy Rabuck, sister Alice Rabuck and four grandchildren.
    A memorial service was held at the Patapsco Masonic Lodge. Her organs were donated to Living Legacy at her request and helped saved three lives, according to a loved one.{/reg}

    A memorial service for Elizabeth Crabtree Dobowicz will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at noon at the Upper Caroline Volunteer Fire Company, 12581 Stonewall Jackson Road, Woodford, Va. Family will  receive friends at 11 a.m.
    {reg}The former Dundalk resident died Dec. 24 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg at the age of 78.
    She retired from Mars Supermarket in Dundalk and moved to Caroline County, Va., in 1991. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Woodford and enjoyed reading, word search games and puzzles.
    Survivors include son David Brian Moser, daughters Elizabeth Lynn Rengstorff and Donna Loehr, brother J.D. Crabtree, sisters Mary Bradfield, Anna Lee Parris and Virginia Ann Hall, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Caroline Volunteer Fire Company, care of the chief, 9344 Stonewall Jackson Road, Woodford, VA 22580.{/reg}

George L. Kotrosa Jr.

A celebration of the life of George L. Kotrosa Jr. will take place Sunday, Jan. 5, beginning at 2 p.m. at Bay Shore Bar & Grill, 8214 North Point Road.
    {reg}He died Nov. 26 at his home in Edgemere at the age of 69.
    He earned engineering degrees from Johns Hopkins University and worked as a senior engineer at Bethlehem Steel. He had owned and operated Bay Shore Bar & Grill for the past nine years.
    He enjoyed traveling, boating, bicycling, gardening and music. “He always had a song for everything,” a family member said. 
    Sharyn J. Kotrosa, his wife of 49 years, survives him, along with children  George L. Kotrosa III and Suzanne L. Kotrosa Hobson, siblings Charles E. and Barbara Lee Kotrosa and three grandchildren.
    He was born in Baltimore to the late Ruth and George L. Kotrosa Sr.

    {reg}The longtime Dundalk resident and World War II veteran died Dec. 21 at Joseph Ritchie Hospice of congestive heart failure. He was 95 and had lived on Wise Avenue since 1961.
    Born to Esther Anna Keefer and Alvin Alfred Leitzel Sr. in Coatesville, Pa., his family moved to Dundalk in 1931. They moved to Sparrows Point, where he graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1935.
    He served in the U.S. Air Corps from 1944 to 1946. He earned a degree in business and public administration from the University of Maryland in 1950 and began his career as an insurance agent with Farm Bureau Insurance, which later became Nationwide Insurance Company. From 1955 to 1974, he owned the Leitzel Insurance Agency in Dundalk.
    He married the late Rev. Virginia Doris Mae Hines Leitzel at First Methodist Church of Sparrows Point in 1948. When the church closed, the couple joined Patapsco United Methodist Church, where they were active members.
    He was active in local politics as well and was a member of the Republican State Central Committee. He also served as a  delegate to the Maryland Constitutional Convention  in 1967.
    He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the War of 1812 Society.
    Survivors include sons John Spencer Leitzel and James Allen Leitzel, daughters Janet Lee Leitzel and Susan Leitzel Kelly, sister Velma Elizabeth Bessent and three grandchildren.
    Along with his parents and wife, brother Alvin Leitzel Jr. preceded him in death.

Janet G. Hoeffler of Edgemere died Dec. 24 at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury, Md., at the age of 91.
    {reg}She was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pa., and worked at the Just Born factory in Bethlehem making candies. She also sewed parachutes during World War II.
    She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Edgemere. She enjoyed sunbathing in her yard, camping, fishing, swimming, traveling, sewing and reading.
    Daughter Karen S. Ramage, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive her.
    Husband Martin Hoeffler Sr. and son Martin Hoeffler Jr. preceded her in death.
    Interment at Meadowridge Cemetery followed services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.{/reg}

Vincenza Di Prospero

Former Dundalk resident Vincenza Di Prospero died Dec. 25 in Baltimore at the age of 87. She lived at St. Luke’s Place in Edgemere.
    {reg}Born in a small village outside the town of Sulmona in the Abruzzi region of Italy, she emigrated to the U.S. with her family at the age of 32. They settled in Dundalk and she lived on Kinship Road for over 40 years.   
    She worked as a seamstress for Misty Harbor and G & G Uniform and retired in  1971. She continued sewing as a volunteer, making lap robes for patients at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and baby clothes, which she donated to the hospital.
    She had attended St. Rita Roman Catholic Church since 1958 andbelonged to the Sodality Senior Club and sang in the Resurrection choir.  She was a member of the Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority. “She enjoyed people,” a loved one said.
    Survivors include children Michael and Adrianna Di Prospero and one granddaughter.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Rita Catholic Church, with interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.{/reg}

Margaret Ruth Rogers

Margaret Ruth Rogers of Fenway Road died Dec. 27 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center at the age of 82.
    {reg}The daughter of the late Samuel and Irene Lewis was born in Ford City, Pa. She moved to Dundalk in 1943 and graduated from Dundalk High School. She lived on Portship Road from 1948 to 2010 and was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
    Daughter Linda Rippel, sister Helene Hood, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive her.
    Benjamin F. Rogers, her husband of 47 years, died in 1995. Siblings Alma Eckert and Walter Lewis also preceded her in death.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, with interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.{/reg}

    {reg}The Delvale Place resident and World War II veteran died Jan. 6 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center from a stroke. He was 86.
    “He was a devoted ‘polka-holic,’” a loved one declared, “and always attended Polka Weekenders.” He  also loved woodworking.
    Born and raised in Canton, he served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the war. He later worked as a crane operator for the Cottman Company.
    Daughter Maryann Kutz, sister Mary Adamski and two grandchildren survive him. Wife Eleanor Malinowski preceded him in death.
    Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.{/reg}
