Former Dundalk resident Deborah Gail Bailey died June 9 at her Mardela Springs home in Wicomico County. She was 58.
    {reg}Born in Staunton, Va., to the late Mary Alma Shiflett Parker, she graduated from the University of Baltimore with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
    “She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother,” a loved one said.
    Survivors include children Jason Miller and Danielle Miles, former husband Charles Miller, brother Mick Bailey and three grandchildren.
    Along with her mother, brother Richard Bailey predeceased her.
    A private family service is pending.{/reg}

Former North Point Village resident Mary Ann Ellison died June 14 at UCLA Hospital in Los Angeles from complications of a stroke. She was 59 and lived in Beaumont, Calif.
    {reg}She grew up in North Point Village, attended Sparrows Point High School and worked at Bethlehem Steel. She lived in Dundalk until 1986, when she moved to California. She was employed as a banker. 
    She loved her family and animals and enjoyed traveling.  
    Survivors include husband Mark Ellison, daughter Stephanie Potenciano, father James C. Adams, stepmother Linda Adams, brother James R. Adams, sisters Lynn Young and Barabara Heim and two grandchildren. Mother Anna Mae Adams preceded her in death.
    Services were held in California.{/reg}

Raymond E. Michaels

    Longtime Dundalk resident and World War II veteran Raymond E. Michaels died May 28 at his son’s home in Westminster. He celebrated his 90th birthday in April with family and friends.
   {reg} Born and raised in Vintondale, Pa., he was the last survivor of 13 siblings. He served in the U.S. Army during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Battle of the Bulge.  
    He moved to Baltimore in 1952 with his wife and family and worked as a bricklayer at Bethlehem Steel, where he retired in 1986. He enjoyed working on old gas engines and restoring antique vehicles.
    Survivors include six children, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Wife Pearl Marie Rager Michaels died in 1996.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Rita Roman Catholic Church, with interment at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.{/reg}

Longtime Dundalk resident Laura Dicea Draper died June 16 at the age of 56 after a long illness.
    {reg}She was born and raised in Baltimore, graduated from Patterson High School and lived most of her life in Dundalk.
    She enjoyed going to yard sales, listening to music and watching movies.
    Albert Draper, her husband of 32 years, survives her, along with mother Evelyn Vilenti, stepfather John Vilenti, father Michael Dicea, sons Matthew Draper and Andrew Dicea, brother Dino Dicea and sister Denise Borkowski.  Brother Ted Boothe preceded her in death.

Frank L. Riley

Former Dundalk resident and Korean War veteran Frank L. Riley died June 13 in Florida, his home since 1991. He was 82.
    {reg}Born and raised in Altavista, Va., he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS James E. Keyes during the war. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after more than 35 years of service.
    In his retirement, he worked part time for the Highwinds Network Group in Florida. He played golf and was a huge sports fan, according to a loved one.
    Survivors include Marion Kuehn Riley, his wife of 59 years, daughter Frankie Lee Riley Schiefer, son Rodney Alan Riley, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Beulah Frances Quesenberry Palmer

    Former Dundalk resident Beulah Frances Quesenberry Palmer died June 4 in Perry Hall, her home for seven years. She was 92. 
   {reg} A naitive of Pulaski, Va., she was the eighth of 13 children born to George Ambers and Bessie Ann Sheppard Quesenberry.
    She moved to Dundalk in 1950 and lived in the community for 57 years, residing mostly on Railway Avenue. She faithfully attended Watersedge Baptist Church, according to a loved one.
    Survivors include daughter Darla Evans, three grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Husband Voyd G. Palmer preceded her in death. 
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, with interment.{/reg}

Sandra L. Cleveland died June 20 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center of pneumonia. She was 66 and lived on Holabird Avenue.
    {reg}The Baltimore native attended Abbott Presbyterian Memorial Church in Highlandtown. She was a homemaker and enjoyed watching television and movies.
    Jack R. Cleveland, her husband of 25 years, survives her, along with children Brenda Schroeder, Jeffrey Willg and Kimberly Willg, sisters Pat and Cathy, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    Services were held at St. George’s and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.{/reg}

Joe Taylor of Jones Creek died of natural causes on June 27 at his home. He was 65.
    {reg}Born and raised in Sparrows Point, he graduated from Dundalk High School in 1966. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 32 years of service. He previously resided on Longpoint Road in Watersedge.
    He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and playing cards.
    Daughter Sherry Honaker, brothers Bob and Bill Taylor, sister Alice Drinnon and two grandchildren survive him.
    Parents Charles and Ruby Taylor, son Steven Taylor and half brother Charles Taylor predeceased him.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, with interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.{/reg}

Longtime Dundalk resident Eleanora Ziolkowski died June 26 at the age of 80.
    {reg}She was born and raised in Baltimore, where she met her husband of 61 years, Theodore Ziolkowski. He died in 2005.
    She enjoyed spending time with family, going to yard sales, flea markets and casinos, taking long rides to Pennsylvania, camping on Treasure Beach in Delaware and visiting Ocean City.
    “She was always the life of the party,” a loved one said.
    She belonged to VFW Post 2621 Ladies Auxiliary.
    Survivors include daughters Debra Fisher and Marcella Robinson, sons Theodore Ziolkowski Jr. and Anthony Ziolkowski, brother Henry Zorn, sister Maime Naumann, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    Along with her husband, sister Barbara Woodell preceded her in death.

Charles Percy Holston

Former Dundalk resident and softball hall of famer Charles Percy Holston died June 25 in Edgewood, Ky., where he had lived for 10 months. He was 87.
    {reg}An athlete in his youth, he was manager or coach for numerous Dundalk-area men’s fast-pitch softball teams from 1948 to 1971. He led many teams to championships, according to a family member. From 1980 to 2003, he coached the Lions women’s fast-pitch softball team at Community College of Baltimore County Dundalk.
    In 1958, he was selected as All-Star Softball Coach by the Baltimore News Post. He was inducted into the Maryland Fast-pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 1985, the Greater Dundalk Sports Hall of Fame in 1986, the Baltimore Boys of Summer Hall of Fame in 2012 and the CCBC Hall of Fame in 2013. He was a founding member of the Maryland Oldtimers Fast-pitch Softball Association and served as president of the organization from 1990 to 2012.
    The son of the late Percy and Marie Holston graduated from Patterson High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked at Patapsco and Back River Railroad as supervisor of railroad car services for 35 years. He retired in 1980.
    Several nieces and nephews survive him. He was preceded in death by wife Veronica Holston and brothers Darrell, Warren, Raymond and Carl Holston.
    Interment with military honors was held at St. Stanislaus Cementery following services at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.

Dundalk resident Karen Robinette Filar died June 18 at her home on McComas Avenue of breast cancer. She was 66.
    {reg}The daughter of Kathryn Robinette and the late Carlton Robinette was born in Cumberland, Md. She graduated from Patapsco High School, attended Essex Community College [now CCBC Essex] and earned a certificate in transcription from Harford Community College. She lived in Joppa for 21 years.
    As a young woman, she worked as a medical secretary at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After several years as a homemaker, she worked as a self-employed medical transcriptionist.
    She studied the Bible and was a member of the Edgemere Church of God.
    Along with her mother, Donald A. Filar, her husband of 34 years, son Robert A. Filar, siblings Kenneth Robinette and Karla Miller and one grandchild survive her. Her father and brother Carlton B. Robinette Jr. preceded her in death.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.{/reg}

Longtime Fort Howard resident Bernard A. Long Jr. died June 25 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center of pneumonia. He was 86 and had lived in the community for 50 years.
    {reg}Born in Pikesville, he graduated from Calvert College and served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman second class. He worked at Beltway Distributors.
    He enjoyed gardening and was an Orioles and Ravens fan.
    Children Louis B. Long Sr. and Mary Luckart, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive him.
    Wife Gloria M. Long and sister Elizabeth Seidl preceded him in death.
    Services at Connelly Funeral Home in Dundalk were followed by interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

James “Jimmy” Panzarotto

Stanbrook resident and World War II veteran James “Jimmy” Panzarotto died June 21 at Genesis HealthCare Cromwell Center of congestive heart failure and renal failure. He was 86.
    {reg}The son of the late Phillip and Delma Niera Panzarotto was born in Price Hill, W.Va. He lived in Jersey City, N.J, for 36 years, then Lakeland, Md., and Meza, Ariz., before residing in Dundalk for 12 years.
    He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aircraft and engine mechanic from 1945 to 1947. He attended engineering school for automobile mechanics in the service and later graduated from the Studebaker Avanti Service School.
    He worked as an automotive mechanic and owned his own garage in Jersey City. He retired from Avis as an auto shop supervisor after 31 years.
    “He had a great love of animals,” a loved one said. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved watching car racing and boxing with his brother, Joe. 
    Survivors include Cathie L. Panzarotto, his wife of eight years, son Matthew Clark, daughter Kimberly Lephew, brothers Manuel “Joe” and Phillip Panzarotto, sisters Pauline White, Maria Smith and Gerry Smith and four grandchildren.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.

Longtime Edgemere resident Dolores M. Moore Schuman died June 17 at Riverview Nursing Center of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 76.
    {reg}The daughter of the late Eugene and Dorothy Moore was born in Old Dundalk. She attended Sparrows Point High School and lived in Edgemere for 64 years. She worked as a housekeeper at Fort Howard VA Hospital for 25 years.
    She enjoyed painting and traveling.  
    She was a member of St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated.
    Sons Stephen and Patrick Schuman, daughter Lorraine Austin, sisters Sue Green, Dorothy Wiland, Mary Jo Morrow, Genie Slicker and Colleen D’Anna, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive her.
    Husband Robert L. Schuman, twin brothers Paul and Louie Moore and sister Lorraine Moore preceded her in death.
    Interment was at Oak Lawn Cemetery.{/reg}

Supplies, reading drive for troops underway

    Angels Supporting Your Troops, Inc. is now collecting the following supplies for “care packages” for U.S. personnel serving overseas: new or used shower shoes or flip-flops, squeeze pop packs (for frozen push-up pops), individually wrapped tooth brushes, toothpaste, hand wipes, hand sanitizer, packets of facial tissue, foot powder, deodorant and disposable razors.
Reading material, including  nonfiction books, comic books and other magazines that are no more than three months old, is also being collected.  
    Donated supplies can be dropped off at 7914 Diehlwood Road, on the picnic table under the side porch. Or, to arrange for a pick-up, contributors can call Irene Spatafore at 410-284-5275.

Viewing for Pauline Myrtle Meckle will be held Friday, July 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave, followed by a Mass of Christian burial Saturday, July 19, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 1727 Lynch Road.
    {reg}The former Dundalk resident died July 14 at the Copper Ridge Nursing Home in Sykesville of natural causes. She was 84.
    She lived on Westfield Road for 60 years and  worked at the North Point Public Library for 25 years. She retired in 1995.
    She was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church and belonged to the Kickers German Club. She and her husband, Albert M. Meckel enjoyed karaoke and traveling in Europe. He died in 2009.
    Children Linda Jeneras, Albert J. Meckel and James F. Meckel, sisters Joyce Donahue and Jeanette Curry, seven granchildren and three great-grandchildren survive her.

    {reg}Born and raised in Baltimore, he retired as a delivery driver from the University of Maryland. He was an avid movie fan.
    He is survived by Phillis “Cissy” King, his wife of 15 years, sons George Thomas King Jr., Chad Arron King and Ryan Michael King, daughter Kelly King, stepdaughters Angela Campbell and Melissa Peyton, mother Norma A. Christopher, brothers Guy D. Christopher and Faron Scott Christopher, sisters Dawn A. Moskos and Tracey Tyson, 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren

Former Dundalk resident Mary Deisroth died July 9 at Franklin Square Hospital of cancer. Known as “Mary Lou” to family and friends, she was 71.
    {reg}She grew up in St. Helena and on Louth Road. She worked in the printing industry and later owned and operated Packaging Developing in Essex.
    She was a member of the Atomic Club. She liked visiting the mountains near Frostburg, playing cards and watching cooking shows. She and her husband, the late Albert W. Deisroth, enjoyed traveling across the United States.
    Survivors include daughter Cindy Smith-Helton, son David M. Helton, sister Nancy Michaels and brothers John Lucas and Lewis Hargis.
    Along with her husband, parents Lewis W. Hargis and Rose Hargis-Christello, sister Ann Kuhn and one grandson preceded her in death.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, with interment at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.{/reg}
