Services for Esther M. Harbert will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave.
    {reg}The homemaker and mother died Aug. 9 in Baltimore at the age of 85. She lived in North Point Village for 57 years.
    Born in Lumber Port, W.Va., she graduated from Lumber Port High School. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family and was a member of Essex United Methodist Church.
    Children Kevin Harbert, Karen Harbert, Janet Neuman-Bossert and Diana Harbert-Lightner, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive her.
    Frederick Harbert, her husband of 65 years, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Charles Ashby Morgan Sr.

    Family and friends of Charles Ashby Morgan Sr. will gather to celebrate his life Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. at Dundalk Moose Lodge, 2800 Sollers Point Road.
    {reg}The lifelong Watersedge resident died Aug. 16 at the age of 62 surounded by family and loved ones.
    Born in Baltimore to the late Charles Hubert and Ashby Chloe Morgan, he graduated from Dundalk High School in 1971. He worked as a crane operator with his brothers and helped build bridges for 25 years.
    “He loved sitting in his yard and talking to his neighbors,” according to a family member. “He had a wonderful personality and a caring heart and enjoyed spending time with family.”
    Survivors include Frances Ann Morgan, his wife since 1981, son Charles Morgan Jr. and stepson James Moubray Jr., brothers James and Tracy Morgan, sisters Margaret Morgan and Glenda Manzari and two grandchildren.
    Along with his parents, siblings Douglas Morgan and Vivian Tarrrants preceded him in death.{/reg}

Maurice T. Xenos Sr.

Dundalk resident and Korean War veteran Maurice T. Xenos Sr. died July 24 of heart failure at Stella Maris Hospice. He was 80 and had lived on Manor Road for 19 years.
    {reg}Born in Baltimore, he graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church.
    He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 45 years. In his retirement, he worked for 10 years at the North Point Public Library. He enjoyed sitting on his porch with his dog Shadow.
    Angeline Ambrosi Xenos, his wife of 19 years, survives him, along with sons Nick and Maurice Xenos Jr., stepson James Arbella III, brother Adolph Paris, sister Katherine Mitchell, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mother Marie Paris and stepfather Adolph Paris preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, with interment at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens.{/reg}

William “Bill” Duncan

    Lifelong Gray Manor resident William “Bill” Duncan died July 18 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was 62.
    {reg}Born in Dundalk, he attended Gray Manor Elementary and North Point Junior High schools and was a 1970 Patapsco High School graduate. In his youth, he was a member of the Dundalk chapter of the Order of DeMolay.
    He worked as an automobile mechanic at Smith Motors and later at Schaefer & Strominger. He retired in 1997 due to a disability.
    He was a motorcycle enthusiast and once biked across the country. He played league pool at Mort’s Little Inn and later at Gary J’s Pub. He was an avid fan of ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s music and he loved crabs and crab feasts.
    Survivors include sister Nancy Johnson. Parents William and Viola Duncan preceded him in death.
    Interment at Bel Air Memorial Gardens followed services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.{/reg}

Pansy Mae Cole Cannon

    Gray Haven Road resident Pansy Mae Cole Cannon died July 23 at Genesis Heritage Center in Dundalk of natural causes. She was 81.
    {reg}The daughter of the late Minnie C. Pyne and William Mack Cole was born and raised in Lenith, W.Va., and graduated from Gap Mills High School in 1952.  She lived on Bond Street in Baltimore before moving to Dundalk, her home for 57 years.
    A homemaker for 63 years, she also worked in day care for 10 years and as a substitute teacher for four years. She enjoyed nature, gardening, camping and spending time with family and friends. In her latter years, she loved eating home cooked meals prepared by her family.
    She was a former member of the Church of Nazarene.
    Survivors include sons Jason P., Douglas M. and Raymond C. Honaker, daughters Rhonda J. Kane, Lynn G. Tallagsen and Alletta F. Lamar, brother Joseph Cole, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by Stanley R. Cannon, her husband of 13 years, children Rex A. Honaker and Deoborah A. Honaker and brother James O. Cole.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.{/reg}

Former Dundalk resident Vicki L. Scott died Aug. 2 of pneumonia in Fawn Grove, Pa., her home for nine years. She was 56.
    {reg}She graduated from Dundalk High School in 1975 and attended Clinton College and Towson University. She worked as a financial analyst at Farm Credit Bank. She resided in Harford County for 22 years before moving to Pennsylvania. 
    She enjoyed eating out with family and friends and loved spending time with her seven grandchildren.
    Survivors also include husband Ronald L. Scott Sr., children Nicole E. Davis and Ronald L. Scott Jr. and sister Judith Ann Mil-ler. Father Robert Harrison preceded her in death.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.{/reg}

    Shelley Lynn Surguy of Fort Howard died Aug. 5 at her Todd Avenue home at the age of 54.
    {reg}She was a Sparrows Point High School graduate and worked at Bethlehem Steel for eight years.
    She loved her black Lab, Buddy, and enjoyed riding horses at Gunpowder State Park.

   {reg} The Colgate resident died Aug. 17 at his home, where he had lived since 1950. He was 89. 
    Born in Jackson, Minn., he served in the U.S. Army for four years and retired from the U.S. Department of Defense. He was active in several Masonic organizations.
    Survivors include children John Wayne Miller, Brian Miller and Bonnie Miller, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Wife Ethel Miller died in 1997.

    Services for James E. Hepburn will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road.   
    The Bayside Drive resident died Aug. 14 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center at the age of 79.
    {reg}He was born in Baltimore to the late Elmer Hepburn and Matilda Ethel Atkins Hepburn. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years and retired as a master sergeant.  He was a member of Ateaze Senior Center and had previously lived on Guy Way.
    Children Lance Hepburn, Tina Lear and Cindi Teal, sister Ethel January and three grandchildren survive him.
    Peggy Hepburn, his wife of 50 years, and brothers Vernon, Thomas and Elmer “Dick” Hepburn preceded him in death.
    Interment at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, at salvationarmyusa.org.{/reg}

A memorial service for Nancy L. Milker will be held Saturday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at Grace Place, 1710 Delvale Ave., where she was a member.
    {reg}The longtime Dundalk resident died Aug. 15 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center at the age of 63.
    “She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister and friend,” a loved one eulogized. “She had the biggest heart.”
    A 1969 graduate of Dundalk High School, she worked for the U.S. Department of Defense until her retirement.
    Survivors include mother Florence Stark, son Oscar A. Robert Milker III, daughter Kendell Walters, brothers Roger and Jimmy Stark, sister Ginger Quinn and two grandchildren. 
    Husband Oscar A. Robert Milker Jr., father Sidney Stark and sister Rosemary Endlich preceded her in death.{/reg}

    Lifelong Edgemere resident and Korean War veteran John Eugene Kotrosa Sr. died Aug. 6 at Heritage Hall in Leesburg, Va. He was 85.
   {reg} He graduated from Sparrows Point High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the war.  He owned JEK Electronics in Sparrows Point and Edgemere for 40 years.
    “He loved being on the water and fishing,” a family member said.     Survivors include wife Beth J. Kotrosa, son John Kotrosa and two grandsons.
    A family service was held. Interment is pending.{/reg}

Edward S. Majgraf

    Longtime West Inverness resident and Word War II veteran Edward S. Majgraf died Aug. 11 of kidney failure at the age of 83.
   {reg} Born and raised in Fells Point, he graduated from Holy Rosary School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the war. He worked at USF&G and lived on Stratman Road most his life.
    He was a Ravens fan and belonged to the Dundalk VFW, Moose and the Polish Home Club.
    “He will be greatly missed,” a loved one said.
    Survivors include sons Bob Chester and Greg Sellers, sisters Hedwig and Wanda and longtime companion Madelyn McGwynn.
    Interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery followed viewing at Kaczorowski Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, where he was a parishioner.

Lester M. Abel Jr

    Lester M. Abel Jr. of Dundalk died Aug. 13 of an aneurysm at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center at the age of 69.
    {reg}He was  Ravens fan and also loved baseball, fishing and watching T.V.
    Born and raised in Prince William County, Va., he resided in Westminster before moving to Dundalk 15 years ago.
    Survivors include sons Lester Abel III, Brian Abel and William Abel, daughters Candy Richardson and Karen Shaver, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Wife Barbara Abel died in 1999. Parents Margaret and Lester Abel Sr. and sisters Brenda Jones and Mary Jane Gardner preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at Dumfries Cemetery in Virginia.{/reg}

George P. Garey Jr.

Services for George P. Garey Jr. will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, at noon at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, with interment at Moreland Memorial Park in Bel Air.
    {reg}The Center Place resident died Aug. 25 at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center of cardiac arrest. He was 93.
    A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945.  He worked at the Nelson Box Factory in Sparrows Point and previously lived in Jones Creek.
    Several family members survive him.{/reg}

Edward Mitchell Sirbaugh

Dundalk resident Edward Mitchell Sirbaugh died Aug. 17 at the Perry Hall VA Medical Center of cancer. He was 74.
    {reg}Born in Petersburg, W.Va., he grew up in Cumberland and graduated from Allegheny High School. He lived in Dundalk for 42 years.
    He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1960 and the Navy Reserve from 1960 to 1964. He worked as a machine operator and security guard and belonged to the Dundalk Moose and American Legion.
    Children Jeanne, Jackie and Joe, sister Sheila Belcastro, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive him. Sister Carol Spiker preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.{/reg}

George Kendall Birmingham

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for George Kendall Birmingham on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 7945 North Boundary Road. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
    {reg}The Korean War veteran died Aug. 18 at his Dundalk home, with his wife by his side. He was 84.
    Born in Edgemere in the home of his late parents, he graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.
    “He was a real lover of music all his life,” a loved one said. He served in several drum and bugle corps as a young man, sang with elite choir groups at St. Rita Roman Catholic and St. Luke Roman Catholic churches and enjoyed listening to his collection of opera and classical music. He also enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the seashore.
    Survivors include wife Carol Ann McKinney Birmingham, son Mark George Birmingham and six grandchildren. Son Kevin Kendall Birmingham preceded him in death.
    Memorial contributions in his name may be made to  a charity of the donor’s choice.{/reg}

    {reg}The Dundalk native died of natural causes Aug. 24 on Rita Road, her home since 1950. She was 83.
    She graduated from Dundalk High School in 1949. A housewife, she also worked as a physician’s assistant and a rifle range instructor. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing and reading.
    She was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Church.
    Survivors include husband Clarence Crawford Jr., sons Charles, Corky and William Crawford, brother Howard Shafer and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.{/reg}

Robert James Lyden Jr.

    A memorial service for Robert James Lyden Jr. will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. at Lodge Forest United Methodist Church, 2715 Lodge Forest Drive.
    {reg}The Dundalk resident died Aug. 29 of pancreatic cancer at Stella Maris Hospice. He was 64.
    He was born in St. Louis, Mo.; his family moved to Rosedale when he was young. He gradated from Calvert Hall College in 1967, earned an associate’s degree from Essex Community College [now CCBC Essex], a bachelor’s degree from Towson State University [now Towson University] and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
    He worked for Tutti Frutti Ice Cream Company before starting his own business, Anita’s Fruit Trays, in 1981. After the business closed in 1991, he worked as a water technician for the City of Baltimore until retiring in 2014.
    He volunteered as a chess coach and in other positions at several area schools, including Norwood Elementary, Holabird Middle and Patapsco High schools. He was especially active in the Patapsco High School Allied Sport Progam. He was also involved in Dundalk-Patapsco Neck Historical Society, served on the parade committee for the Dundalk 4th of July parade for many years, and participated in many local theatrical productions. He loved music.
    He was a two-time mid-Atlantic senior division speed stacking champion.
    Survivors include wife Lisbeth Tolbert, children Anita Franz, Daniel Lyden, Michael Lyden and Emily Kraus, mother Anita Lyden and three grandchildren. Father Robert Lyden Sr. preceded him in death.

Mary Helena Murphy

    Veteran teacher Sr. Mary Helena Murphy, SSND, died Aug. 14 at the School Sisters of Notre Dame Health Care Center in Baltimore. She was 97 and lived at Our Lady of Hope Convent for 38 years.
    {reg}She taught 6th grade at Our Lady of Hope/St. Luke School for 20 years and volunteered with kindergarten students for almost as many years.
    Faculty, staff and former students remember her for her love of music, dance and art and for the Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day programs performed by her sixth-graders. “She believed in educating children not only in core disciplines but also in the arts,” a friend said.
    She retired in 2010 and moved to the SSND retirement community at Villa Assumpta in Baltimore.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Villa Assumpta on Aug. 20. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Our Lady of Hope/St. Luke School, 8003 North Boundary Road, Dundalk, MD 21222.{/reg}
