Llewellyn “Bud” Dietrich Jr.

    Dundalk native Llewellyn “Bud” Dietrich Jr. died Aug. 27 at Martinsburg V.A. Medical Center in West Virginia. He was 67.
    {reg}The son of the late Elizabeth Ey Dietrich and Llewellyn Dietrich Sr. was born in Gray Manor. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for three years and at Sparrows Point Ship Yard for 33 years. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service.
    He served as adjutant at Gray Manor VFW Post 9743 for 15 years and was a life member of Henry Hart VFW Post 1411 and Fort Cumberland American Legion Post 13, where he was a member for eight years.
    Brenda Unger Dietrich, his wife of 16 years, survives him, along with children Buddy Dietrich and Lisa Hill, twin sisters Marlene Leary and Darlene Walker and one granddaughter.
    Brothers Preston and Ronald Goetzke and daughter Denise Dietrich preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Adams Family Funeral Home in Cumberland, with interment at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.{/reg}

John M. Lipski

    Longtime Dundalk resident John M. Lipski died on Aug. 28 at the age of 81.
   {reg}He was born in Bethlehem, Pa., and lived in Dundalk for 57 years. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 43 years of service.
    He was an avid golfer and played at Sparrows Point Country Club.
    Survivors include Barbara “Hank” Lipski, his wife of 55 years, children Blaine, Michael and Wendy and four grandchildren.  
    In honor of his request, his body was donated to the Anatomy Board of Maryland.{/reg}

Dainies J. Wilson of Dunleer Road died Aug. 11 from diabetes and dementia at the age of 84.
    {reg}Born in Sparrows Point to the late Irvin and Vada Johnson, she was a longtime active member of Dundalk Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed church activities, Bible study and spending time with friends.
    She is survived by brother Irvin Johns Jr. and sister Genevieve Searl.
    Services were held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, with interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Wilburn “Jimmy” Smith

    Services for Wilburn “Jimmy” Smith will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. at Connelly Funeral Home, 7110 Sollers Point Road. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
    {reg}The Dundalk resident died Aug. 31 of natural causes at the age of 70. He lived on Codd Avenue for 24 years.
    He was born in Shelby, N.C. and graduated from high school. He worked as a bartender at the Railway Inn and was also a magician.
    Mary Lou Ffeifer, his wife of 47 years, survives him, along with children Tracy Elliott,  Melanie Paulley, Carl Smith and Gus Smith, sister Emma Jo Murray, 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    Siblings John Smith and Leona Nicolaidis Smith preceded him in death.{/reg}

    Services for Donna Reddish will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave.
    {reg}The Gray Manor resident died Aug. 29 at her home from complications of surgery at the age of 67.
    She was born and raised in Asheville, N.C., and had also lived in Mobile, Ala., Atlanta, Ga., and Dayton, Ohio. She was a high school graduate and attended college for two years.
    She worked for more than 20 years as a clerk at the Baltimore County Courthouse in Towson, retiring in June 2013. She enjoyed music, movies, reading and spending time with her pets.
    Survivors include daughter Kimberlye Bernabe. Husband Wayne Reddish died in 2010.{/reg}

Donald Anderson Goudy Sr

Viewing for Donald Anderson Goudy Sr. will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave., with services Friday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
    {reg}He died Sept. 6 at the age of 79 at his home on Rabon Avenue, where he lived for 46 years.
    Born in Trenton, N.J., he served in the Maryland Army National Guard for two years and in the U.S. Army for four years.
He worked at Shipside Packing, York International and Johnson Controls for more than 35 years and retired as a shop foreman.
    He was a model train enthusiast, enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with family.
    Survivors include Mary S. Goudy, his wife of 56 years, sons Donald Anderson Goudy Jr., William H. Goudy and John S. Goudy, daughter Karen M. Leach, brothers Wade, James and Maxion Goudy, sisters Elda Canup, Florence Barns and Jessie Burges, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Charles D. Bolling Jr

    Charles D. “Chuck” Bolling Jr. of Ewald Avenue died Aug. 2 at Franklin Square Hospital at the age of 54.
    {reg}He was very proud of his Cherokee heritage, according to his family. “He embraced the spirit of the wolf and participated in historical re-enactments and volunteered in many other community events,” a loved one said. “He will be missed by family and friends.”     He served in the U.S. Air Force for several years and retired due to health problems.   
    Survivors include wife Sallie, daughter Tara, mother Peggy and brothers Darren and Michael.     Father Charles Damon Bolling Sr. and brother George “Randy” Bolling preceded him in death.     Services and interment were private.{/reg}

    Former Dundalk resident Denise Hecht died Sept. 4 at Franklin Square Hospital at the age of 59. She lived in Essex.
    {reg}Born in Baltimore, the daugther of the late Richard and Carleen Rhynes grew up in Edgemere. She lived on Yorkway later in her life.
    She worked at George’s Cafeteria at the Dundalk Marine Terminal for many years and then at Chesapeake Gourmet.
    “She loved motorcycles and taking care of her kids,” a family member said.
    Survivors include sons Eric and Delbert Church, sisters Andrea Cascio, Earla Garrett and Rickie Broughman and four grandchildren.

Viewing for Marian Elizabeth Crawford will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, followed by a service Friday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Evangelical Church, 1803 Dundalk Ave. Interment will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
    {reg}The Dundalk native died of natural causes Aug. 24 on Rita Road, her home since 1950. She was 83.
    She graduated from Dundalk High School in 1949. A housewife, she also worked as a physician’s assistant and a rifle range instructor. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing and reading.
    She was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Church.
    Survivors include husband Clarence Crawford Jr., sons Charles, Corky and William Crawford, brother Howard Shafer and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.{/reg}

Robert James Lyden Jr.

    A memorial service for Robert James Lyden Jr. will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. at Lodge Forest United Methodist Church, 2715 Lodge Forest Drive.
    {reg}The Dundalk resident died Aug. 29 of pancreatic cancer at Stella Maris Hospice. He was 64.
    He was born in St. Louis, Mo.; his family moved to Rosedale when he was young. He gradated from Calvert Hall College in 1967, earned an associate’s degree from Essex Community College [now CCBC Essex], a bachelor’s degree from Towson State University [now Towson University] and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
    He worked for Tutti Frutti Ice Cream Company before starting his own business, Anita’s Fruit Trays, in 1981. After the business closed in 1991, he worked as a water technician for the City of Baltimore until retiring in 2014.
    He volunteered as a chess coach and in other positions at several area schools, including Norwood Elementary, Holabird Middle and Patapsco High schools. He was especially active in the Patapsco High School Allied Sport Progam. He was also involved in Dundalk-Patapsco Neck Historical Society, served on the parade committee for the Dundalk 4th of July parade for many years, and participated in many local theatrical productions. He loved music.
    He was a two-time mid-Atlantic senior division speed stacking champion.
    Survivors include wife Lisbeth Tolbert, children Anita Franz, Daniel Lyden, Michael Lyden and Emily Kraus, mother Anita Lyden and three grandchildren. Father Robert Lyden Sr. preceded him in death.

    Kathleen E. MacNeal of Dundalk died Sept. 1 at Gilchrist Hospice Center at the age of 91.
    {reg}Born in Annapolis, she lived in Stanbrook for 59 years. She was a housewife. Her husband Norman R. MacNeal died in 1997. 
    She was an active member of Dundalk Women of the Moose Chapter 97 and also belonged to the Jolly Club and Dizzy Club.
    Sons Norman E., Russell W. and Jeffrey L. MacNeal, sister Edrie Hunter, three granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren survive her.
    Along with her husband, siblings Ruby Chaney and Charles Deuel preceded her in death.
    Interment at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens followed services at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.{/reg}

Ralph James Zannino

    Services for Ralph James Zannino will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnessnes, 4634 Bowley’s Lane in Essex.
    {reg}The Fort Howard resident died suddenly at the age of 72 at his Todd Avenue home, where he lived for 50 years.
    He was a master electrical technician and retired from RCA and GE after 45 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Dundalk.
    “His greatest joy was being involved in the door-to-door ministry, talking about God’s kingdom and the blessings it will bring and teaching the Bible,” a loved one said.
    Survivors include Carmen Zannino, his wife of 50 years, daugther Diana Yates, son Michael Zannino, sisters Patty Hubbard and Marion McDonald, four grandchildren and one great-grandson.{/reg}

Dorothy Iris Grubb

    Lifetime Dundalk resident Dorothy Iris Grubb died July 29 at the age of 60. Known as “Dottie” to family and friends, she last lived on Manor Road for 16 years. 
    {reg}She graduated from Dundalk High School in 1973 and worked as an account patient biller at Johns Hopkins Health Systems for over 40 years. She had previoulsy lived on Synder Avenue and Holabird Avenue.
    “She was the ‘cool aunt’ to many nieces and nephews,” a loved one said. “She always had a kind word. Everyone loved her famous cherry cheesecake.”
    She enjoyed swimming with her family, baking for holidays and birthdays and keeping in touch with people by computer. A country music fan, she saw Travis Tritt at this year’s Dundalk Heritage Festival.
    Survivors include former husband Michael Grubb, daughter Kristi Grubb, stepsons Melan Michael Grubb and Donald Grubb, brother Robert “Bobby” Lindemon, sisters Mary Jean, Mildred “Pixie” Phillips and Sue Clark and one granddaughter.
    Parents Iris Dorothy Kairis and Robert Lindemon Sr. preceded her in death.
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with interment at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery.{/reg}

Jason Scott Plienis

    Edgemere resident Jason Scott Plienis died at his home on Aug. 23 at age 34.
    {reg}He played football and wrestled at Sparrows Point High School, where he graduated in 1998. He was an avid Ravens fan.   
    He also enjoyed music, movies, fishing and deer hunting. He loved to travel and recently returned from a 10-day camping trip with his father to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons.
    “He loved his family and friends and always had a camera in his hand,” a loved one recalled. “He was the king of the selfie. He  had a great memory and was a natural storyteller. His greatest joy was spending time with his nephew Tyler. They were inseparable.”
    He worked at Details Plus.
    The son of Ron and Cheryl Plienis was born in Baltimore. Brother Ron Plienis Jr. also survives him. 
    Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.{/reg}

    Colgate resident and World War II veteran John L. Martin died Aug. 18 at the Loch Raven VA Community Living & Rehabilitation Center of esophageal cancer. He was 92.
    {reg}Born in Baltimore, the son of the late John and Ethel Martin grew up in Highlandtown and served in the U.S. Army during the war. He worked as a mechanic at BG&E for 35 years.
    He was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Highlandtown and belonged to the Essex Moose lodge for almost 50 years.
    He enjoyed playing drums, working on  cars and shopping.
    Survivors include Mary Martin, his wife of 44 years, daughter Angel Martin and seven grandchildren. Sons Phillip and Leonard “Bruzzy” Martin preceded him in death.
    Services were held at Bradley-Ashton-Kehl Funeral Home, with interment at Swartz Cemetery on O’Donnell Street.{/reg}

    Edgemere native Edgar “Nick” Weinreich died Sept. 6 in Bel Air at the age of 65.
    {reg}He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a crew leader in the steel industry. After retiring in 2000, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
    Survivors include wife Catherine, daughter Tammy Lee Weinreich and sisters Sandra Brown and Pamela Weinreich. He was the son of the late Charles William and Maxine Adair Hultz Weinreich. 
    Services were held at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon, with interment at Highview Memorial Gardens.{/reg}

    Longtime Dun-dalk resident Juanita E.  Kotch died Aug.  29 at Hopkins Village in Essex. She was 78.
    {reg}Born in Maryland, she lived on St. Helena Avenue for 50 years. She worked as a seamstress at Rockland Industries until her retirement. She loved to bowl and patronized Pinland Lanes for many years. 
    Donald Kotch, her husband of 58 years, survives her, along with children Curt, Sheree, Juanita and Lois Kotch, brothers Thomas and Jim, sisters Mildred, Sue, Norma, Mary and Virginia, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and longtime companion Roy Edmonds. 
    Parents Thomas and Mildred Martin and one grandson preceded her in death.{/reg}

    Former Edgemere and Dundalk resident Jerry E. Lee died Aug. 27 of cancer at Heartland Hospice in Wilmington, Del. He was 66 and lived in North East.
   {reg} Born in Fountain Run, Ky., the son of Elton and Lanelle Lee served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked in the steel industry at Sparrows Point for more than 40 years.
    He enjoyed driving sports cars, going to yard sales and antique stores, cooking chili and listening to Elvis Presley.
    “He told things the way they are,” a loved one said. “He had a wicked sense of humor and a heart of gold. He would give you the shirt off his back if it helped.”
    Along with his parents, survivors include daughter Crystal M. Lee, brothers Allen, Mike and Eric, sisters Ann, Jan and Marietta and two grandsons.
    Private memorial services were held in Fountain Run and North East. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at www.relayforlife.org/getinvolved/donate.{/reg}

William A. Bosley Sr

    William A. Bosley Sr. of Dundalk died Sept. 5 of cancer in Baltimore at the age of 83.
    {reg}He was a member of the B&R Round Dance Club and taught round dancing for 28 years.
    Born in Baltimore, he grew up in Highlandtown and graduated from Patterson Park High School in 1951.
    He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and worked at the Social Security Administration for 31 years. He lived in Dundalk for 58 years.
    Rosella A. Bosley, his wife of 61years, sons Marc Bosley Sr. and Willam Bosley Jr., daughter Valerie Bosley, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive him. Parents William S. and Esther Leah Bosley preceded him in death.
    Interment at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens followed services at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk.{/reg}

Albert J. Pencek

    Longtime Dundalk resident Albert J. Pencek died Sept. 13 at Seasons Hospice at Franklin Square Hospital of cancer at the age of 83. He lived on Stengel Avenue for 45 years and had previously lived on Drexel Avenue for 10 years.
    {reg}Born in Edgemere, he was one of 18 siblings born to August and Mary Mekolon Pencek. He attended Sparrows Point High School. 
    He began his working life as a farmer, then worked at Bethlehem Steel for 30 years and later drove a limousine for 20 years. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, watching sports and studying the Bible. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where services were held.
    Survivors include Helen “Tootsie” Pencek, his wife of 64 years, daughter Bonnie Pencek and sister Wilma Wolf. Son Alan Pencek preceded him in death.
    Interment was at Holly Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 7041 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, MD 21222.{/reg}
