Longtime Dundalk resident and Korean War veteran Paul E. Fort died Oct. 9 at Gilchrist Hospice Center from complications of asbestosis. He was 84 and had lived on Yardley Drive for 51 years.
{reg}The son of the late Horace J. and Anna P. Fort lived on Long Point Road in his youth. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 38 for 52 years.
He worked as a pipe insulator with Local 11 for 41 years.
“He loved the Orioles, no matter what their record was,” a loved one recalled. He also loved watching the Dundalk Independence Day parade and fireworks, attending the Heritage Fair, displaying the American flag and talking about the weather. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, watching bull riding and Westerns.
Geraldine L. Fort, his wife of 60 years, son Douglas E. Fort, daughters Paula N. Bonham, Karen L. Larkin, Arleen M. Proto, Tina M. Fort and Dina L. Gentry, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him.
Brother Charles R. Fort predeceased him.
Services were held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, with burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
